Bhopal man thrashes shopkeeper for calling him ‘uncle’ in front of wife

A shopkeeper in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal was beaten by a customer for allegedly addressing him as ‘uncle’ in front of his wife.
As per a complaint filed with the police, Vishal Shastri, who owns a saree shop in Bhopal’s Jatkhedi area, alleged that he was thrashed by a customer and his friends at his outlet.
The accused, identified as Rohit, had come to Vishal’s shop on Saturday with his wife to buy her a saree. The couple checked a number of sarees for a long time but did not select any.
Shopkeeper Vishal then asked Rohit as to what price range of sarees he would like to buy. “Rs 1,000,” Rohit replied, adding that he could even buy a saree costlier than that, warning Vishal to not undermine his buying capacity.
Vishal then went on to say, “Uncle, I will show you sarees in other ranges too.”
This infuriated Rohit, who warned Vishal not to call him that again and a heated argument ensued.
Rohit left the shop with his wife. After a while, he returned to the shop with a few men, who dragged Vishal out of the shop onto the road and started thrashing him with sticks, belts and also kicked him several times. The accused then fled the spot.
Vishal, having sustained a few injuries, reached the nearest police station and lodged a complaint against Rohit and his friends. He was sent for a medical examination and treatment to the nearby hospital thereafter, said senior police officer Manish Raj Singh Bhadauria.
A case has been registered against Rohit and his friends and all the accused will be arrested soon, police said.
